Utah-Spain 2003 (3)

Hello all - this is a sinfully small and short letter that will do my journey no justice, but I just wanted to drop a quick update with details to come...

I went to Morocco.. quite the experience... got some pics and would love to go back in my new djilaba, with a scarf over my head so I could experience it without the vendors in my face, without having to explain that I too am poor and am just getting by to see as much as I can for a bit... they speak French, Spanish and English in Morocco and many speak German too.. they cater well to tourists in Tangier.. we got looks, but for the most part, just bumping arms with one another in the market on the 18th day of Ramadan (sp?)...

Now I'm in El Chorro.. in the finca la campana.. the spot for climbers.. speaking mostly English with the English and Swedes that are staying there with me.. I have a room in a beautiful bunkhouse.. we have a fully stocked kitchen with a shop on site and laundry, shower and all other kinds of facilities... it's ideal really with the exception of the fact that I'm speaking English, but the owners have 4 kids that only speak Spanish so I've offered some babysitting services in exchange for free lodging and they're thinking of taking me up on it, although I haven't met the kids yet and all the climbers tell me they're little devils...

I was gonna climb today but it rained so everyone headed to the Poema cave... it was crowded to the gills with 50 climbers and I'm glad I waited.. I'll go out tomorrow for a bit of sunshine and more space... it's gorgeous here.. if you're interested.. look up Finca La Campana El Chorro on the internet and you'll see where I am....

It's funny really cause I was heading north without looking back, a little frustrated and off to Germany, now I think I found a great home base... I want to also try to find work picking olives, oranges and lemons as the season is right around the corner and I've been told I could find plenty of work.. we'll see... For now - that's that.. I hope you're all well... Smiles and Deep Breaths from Spain..
